DESCRIPTION:Join us Wednesday\, October 29 from 11:00am - 3:00pm for the first ever Internship Fair. This is a chance for students and employers to connect in hopes of filling internships for the spring semester of 2015.\n\n\n\nThe Bismarck-Mandan Development Association (BMDA) and the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce have teamed up with our local colleges and universities to increase the utilization of internships.\n\n\n\nInternships are an opportunity offered by an employer to potential employees\, usually undergraduate students\, to work at a business for a fixed\, limited period of time. Internships may be full or part time\, and are usually offered for the duration of a school semester or during the summer months. These opportunities provide businesses with a wonderful source of employees in today's tight labor market and often lead to permanent employees down the road.\n\n\n\nConversely\, internships connect our higher education institutions with our business community to offer students a period of practical experience in the industry relating to their field of study. This experience is valuable to students as a means of allowing them to experience how their studies are applied in the "real world" and as work experience that can be highly attractive to potential employers on a candidate's resume.\n\n\n\nInternships are only one way in which we can address our community's workforce needs\, but it's a vital means of doing so and one which can go a long way.
