SUMMARY:Rollin’ Down the River—Discovering People and Places Along the Mighty Missouri Book Signing
DESCRIPTION:Branson\, Mo. author Larry Campbell will be in Bismarck\, October 10th. to speak and sign copies of his new book\, Rollin' Down the River Discovering People and Places Along the Mighty Missouri.\n\n\n\nCampbell will give a presentation and sign copies of the coffee table book at the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce\, 1640 Burnt Boat Drive\, Bismarck\, at 6 p.m. Tuesday\, Oct. 10th.\n\n\n\nRollin' Down the River is a collection of photographs\, anecdotes and vignettes by Campbell\, who fulfilled a dream during the summer of 2016 to travel the length of the Missouri River from its source in Three Forks\, Mont. to its confluence with the Mississippi north of St. Louis. Campbell wrote about and photographed not only the natural beauty of the Missouri itself\, but about the communities he explored and the personalities he met during his six-week exploration.\n\n\n\nCampbell visited the Bismarck-Mandan area Aug. 11-14\, 2016. The book features photographs and recollections of visits to the rebuilt Fort Mandan near Washburn\, and Fort Abraham Lincoln\, as well as the North Dakota State Capitol in Bismarck\, a building that is unique in architecture from most state capitol buildings. Also featured is Bismarck's Alley 5.5\, where local artists have transformed an alley into an open-air gallery of murals.\n\n\n\nCampbell\, a retired math professor at Missouri State in Springfield\, has been revisiting his 2016 stops this summer as he promotes the book\, which is published by Acclaim Press. While the river offers many opportunities for photography\, Campbell said it is the people along the river that made the 2016 trip worthwhile.\n\n\n\n"As I got out on the River\, I was adopted by a marvelous and indescribable new extended family\," wrote Campbell. "Experiencing the Missouri River is/was amazing in innumerable ways\, but I often suspected the River was there only as an excuse to meet these long-lost relatives. I loved them all\, and can't wait to find excuses to see them all again!"
