SUMMARY:Sensational Sundays: Capitol Shakespeare presents Death of a Salesman
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Capitol Shakespeare's production of "Death of a Salesman." The performance is free and open to the public Arthur Miller once said that Death of a Salesman was "the tragedy of a man who gave his life\, or sold it" in pursuit of the American Dream. The story revolves around the last days of Willy Loman\, a failing salesman\, who cannot understand how he failed to achieve success and happiness. Through a series of tragic soul-searching revelations of the life he has lived with his wife\, his sons\, and his business associates\, we discover how his quest for the "American Dream" kept him blind to the people who truly loved him. As the play reaches its conclusion\, the audience is left to consider an important question: What does a man do when he considers his life to be a failure? Winner of the 1949 Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award for Best Play\, this work of revealing beauty remains one of the most profound classic dramas of the American theatre. This event is part of the State Historical Society of North Dakota's Sensational Sundays series. Sensational Sundays are free cultural programs that include a variety of lectures\, concerts\, movies\, and tours.
