Burleigh County 4-H is collecting books to help build a library in Uganda. The library will be built in partnership with Grassroots Uganda. They will be collecting new or gently used (age appropriate) children?s books for children in preschool through grade 12. If you have books to donate they can be dropped off at the Burleigh County Extension Office located at 3715 E. Bismarck Expressway. 4-H clubs will also be canvasing neighborhoods to collect the books. If you are unable to drop the books off at the office please contact us at 701-221-6865 to make additional arrangements. The drive will run through Aug 3. Grassroots Uganda is a Fair Trade NGO working with Women in the slums and rural areas of Uganda. They provide training in craft making, business skills, and money management, while paying their Artisans fair wages for their work. Their mission is to give the women a hand up, instead of a hand out, so that they can pull themselves out of poverty.
