Auditions for Shade Tree Players Conservatory and Apprentice Programs
If you are an advanced theatre student between the ages of 13 and 18 and are interested in learning, growing and challenging yourself as a theatre artist, the exciting and educational Shade Tree Players Conservatory and Apprentice Programs are for you! Creatively structured using the guidelines of the National Standards for the Arts, the advanced Conservatory Program will employ the practices of physical and vocal technique, scene analysis and character development, to show students how to generate enticing, entertaining and thrilling theatrical productions. With the direction and design of theatre professionals, students cast in either of the two Conservatory shows, Emma and Guys and Dolls, or the Apprentice show, Stories Under the Big Top, will greatly expand their crafts, enrich their experiences, and thrive as actors. EMMA: A colorful classic about youthful hubris and the perils of misconstrued romance. Ages: 13-18, Fees: $200.00, Auditions: Sat. Feb. 27, 2016, 10am-12pm Rehearsals: Jun. 6-Jul. 5, 9am-12pm, Performances: Jul. 6-10, 2016 Location Dakota Stage GUYS and DOLLS: A tall tale about a New York gambler, a stern missionary, and a silly bet on a game of craps. Ages: 15-18, Fees: $200.00, Auditions: Sat. Feb. 27, 2016, 3pm-6pm Rehearsals: Jun. 27-Jul. 26, 2pm-6pm, Performances: Jul. 27-31, 2016 Location Dakota Stage STORIES UNDER THE BIG TOP: A variety of fun vignettes designed to delight children of all ages. Ages: 14-18, Fees: $250.00, Auditions: Sat. Feb. 27, 2016, 12pm-2pm Rehearsals: Jul. 5-Aug. 5, 4pm-7pm, Performances: Aug. 8-14, 2016 Location Dakota Stage Auditions for EMMA (ages 13-18) will take place from 10am-12pm on Saturday, February 27th at Dakota Stage. From those auditions, as many as 6 young men and 6 young women will be cast. Students interested in auditioning should be prepared to present cold readings from the script and show their abilities to connect to their cast mates as well as demonstrate excellent vocal and physical acting work. Auditions for GUYS and Dolls (ages 15-18) will take place from 3pm-6pm on Saturday, February 27th at Dakota Stage. From those auditions, as many as 10 young men and 10 young women will be cast. Students interested in auditioning should work up 16 bars of a song and be prepared to present cold readings from the script to show their abilities to connect to their cast mates as well as demonstrate excellent vocal and physical acting work. Auditions for STORIES UNDER THE BIG TOP (ages 14-18) will take place from 12-2pm on Saturday, February 27th at Dakota Stage. From those auditions, as many as 12 roles will be filled. Students interested in participating in a fun, fantastical, enchanting production to the delight of children in their community and collaborating as a creative team, should be prepared to present cold readings from the script selected and show their abilities to connect to their cast mates as well as demonstrate excellent vocal and physical acting work. All advanced Shade Tree Players students are welcome and encouraged to audition for BOTH Conservatory shows as well as the Apprentice Program. This season, students are able to participate in all productions for which they are age appropriate. Casting preference will be given to those not previously cast in other productions. Registration fees are reduced for those cast in multiple productions.
