Henry Martinson was one of the most influential Nonpartisan League (NPL) organizers in North Dakota history. His life is highlighted in Rob Nilson and John Hanson's "Prairie Trilogy". “Rebel Earth” and “Survivor,” parts 2 and 3 of the trilogy, will be shown on Sunday, Nov. 20 beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the Russell Reid Auditorium of the ND Heritage Center & State Museum. The showing is free and open to the public. A panel discussion will follow the film showings. “Rebel Earth” (50 min.) is the chronicle of 97-year-old Henry Martinson as he joins a young farmer, Jon Ness of Ambrose to look for sites from Martinson’s past. They search for the exact spot of the Divide County homestead Martinson proved up in 1907. “Survivor” (30 min.) was completed the year before Martinson's death on November 20, 1981. This last film in the Prairie Trilogy rings with optimism and humor. “Survivor” includes the memories, stories, and experiences, past and present, of an extraordinary man of the people.
