What does it truly mean to be human? Are we strictly limited by our genetics, our aging bodies, and our own mortality? America’s Founding Fathers proclaimed our inalienable right to the pursuit of Happiness. Sometimes that pursuit feels futile. How do we increase our odds in attaining a life filled with meaning—and is good health inextricably linked to happiness? Attendees of the GameChanger ideas festival: The Pursuit of Health and Happiness will explore these questions through the presentations of our thinkers: a doctor, a professor of psychology, an anti-ageism activist, a historian, a mortician, and more. GameChanger is a celebration of ideas. Set aside one day to delve into these new ways of thinking. Whether it's with one of our internationally-renowned speakers, or with a Community GameChanger: connect, converse, discuss, and discover! We all have questions. Whether it’s a misunderstanding of a medical diagnosis, an encounter with someone who has a disability, an assumption about an older person’s physical or mental capacity, or our own death, we rarely get an opportunity to speak publicly about these very private contemplations. Using a Humanities lens to view these issues allows for in-depth discussion; the opportunity to create deeper, more meaningful connections with others seeking change in our community; and the ability to reflect on what we’ve learned and in a thoughtful, and more humane way.
