?There is no consensus among Americans as to whether Russia is a friend or foe. During the Cold War, most Americans believed that the Soviet Union was a foe and our foreign policy and military strategy reflected this. However, today there is a growing divide in America mostly along partisan lines on whether Russia shares our interests or not. This is due, in part, to our own questioning of America’s role in the world. Could Russia be both America’s friend and foe? If so, what does American foreign policy look like? Gaining consensus on where we stand in relation to today’s Russia is critical to our nation’s future.
