DESCRIPTION:The public is invited to a Norwegian chip carving demonstration at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck Friday\, Feb. 23\, 12:30-4:30 p.m. North Dakota artist Jim Paulson of Skanderna Wood Works\, LLC will demonstrate the art of low relief carving\, a style dating back to the 12th century in Norway. Paulson will show how he uses basic carving tools\, such as gouges\, v-tools\, and knives\, to carve depictions of mythical creatures resembling horses\, lions\, serpents\, and dragons. The ND Heritage Center & State Museum is open Monday-Friday\, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.\, and Saturday-Sunday\, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Find upcoming State Historical Society events at history.nd.gov/events.
