DESCRIPTION:This Visiting Scientists Series program features Andrew J. Clark\, co-author of Archaeological Perspectives on Warfare on the Great Plains. The presentation will be held in the Russell Reid Auditorium. Clark will help the audience learn about people living along and moving through the Missouri River Valley between A.D. 1000 and 1750. How did people interact with their space? Looking at group differences\, traditional memory\, the topography\, and what can be seen from places where village evidence is found archaeologically\, conclusions can be drawn about the interactions between people and the environment. Andrew J. Clark is Chief Archaeologist for the State Historical Society of North Dakota. He received his PhD in anthropology from the University at Albany in 2017 and specializes in conflict studies\, public archaeology\, and spatial analysis.
