The Airport is looking for an Accountant to fill the Accounting Coordinator position. This position performs duties related to the airport department's accounting functions, supervises administrative support staff and provides other specialized support functions. Some of the job duties include:

  • Supervises office staff in the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable; instructs, assigns, and monitors postings, balancing, and reporting; prepares data for reporting and tracking of airline performance; reviews statistical data collected by administrative staff.
  • Prepares, maintains, coordinates and implements procedures and develops policies for the day to day operations of the airport as they relate to finance and administration. Ensures compliance with applicable requirements of city ordinances and policies, and state and federal regulations. 
  • Prepares revenue and expense analyses, and draft budget for management review; prepares cash balance reports; completes and coordinates the preparation of reoccurring state and federal reports. 
  • Coordinates new hire orientation for airport staff; coordinates maintenance of department employee records; coordinates FMLA and WSI; processes payroll for the department. 
  • Reviews and approves invoices and purchase orders; monitors expense accounts for compliance with budget; monitors accounts receivable; prepares monthly airline billing invoices and inputs into airline invoicing software systems. 
  • Tracks supplies, office equipment, inventoried assets, IT resources and coordinates department purchases.
  • Coordinates and maintains petty cash fund. 
  • Prepares payments to contractors for airport projects; prepares/supervises requests for reimbursement (FAA Airport Improvement Program grants, Federal Other Transaction Agreements and state grants); monitors grant accounting for accuracy.
  • Prepares and submits quarterly Passenger Facility Charge reports into FAA specific software in accordance with FAA requirements. 
  • Supervises and trains staff in the processing of badge applicants in compliance with TSA regulations; maintains Criminal History Record Checks fingerprinting computer system and software. 
  • Coordinates and resolves issues with the airport’s terminal (Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS), WIFI, PA, cable TV); assists with website administration; supervises electronic file systems; monitors staff’s compliance with city’s file maintenance and records retention policy. Ensures compliance with federal sensitive security information requirements. 
  • Performs related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of a baccalaureate degree in accounting or degree in a similar course of study related to the occupational field.
  • Accounting Degree preferred. 
  • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with three to five years of experience related to the duties of this position. Previous airport experience preferred

Specials Requirements

Must meet and maintain qualifications pursuant to 49 CFR Part 1542 (Unescorted Access Authority).
