Direct Support Professional / CNA - Family Support (IHS)– Bismarck
The Direct Support Professional/CNA position is responsible to perform supervised tasks related to delivery of health and personal cares, therapeutic, educational, behavioral, recreational, and leisure activities for the individuals served at Anne Carlsen; contributing to the overall ISP/IEP and positive behavior support plan.  This position will also assume the responsibility to train new staff to care for the clients following Anne Carlsen guidelines, client specific plans and teaching strategies.
DSP training provided and CNA training will be provided if license not already obtained.  CNA license does need to be in place by 6/1/21 to support program growth.

QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements)

Education and/or years’ experience required:
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent 
  • Minimum two years’ experience in health care field, preferably working with individuals with disabilities 
  • CNA license in ND or willing to complete training to obtain license by 6/1/21
Preferred/Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to learn and perform personal cares, education and therapeutic programs, and can learn and comprehend medical terminology. 
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing; can follow verbal and written instructions, and problem solve effectively with clients, staff, family members, and community businesses.  
  • Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, being tactful, courteous, and diplomatic with internal and external contacts.  
  • Ability to adapt to rapid change, and must be able to intervene promptly in crisis/emergency situations.  
  • Understand and have a basic working knowledge of a computer or be willing to learn, as well as communication devices and other assistive technology.
  • Supervision of others/decision making aptitude (if applicable): This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
