Business Development & Marketing Coordinator

Position / Parameters
The Business Development & Marketing Coordinator serves at the will of the President and will lead the Chamber EDC’s economic development marketing efforts and assist with business development efforts. These duties include, but are not limited to: the preparation of Chamber EDC publications, the development and implementation of business attraction marketing efforts, the maintenance of economic development-related content at assisting with individual Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) visits, and assisting with economic development projects in conjunction with the Vice President.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must possess excellent writing skills and be capable of making clear oral and visual presentations to various public and private sector partners.
  • Must be a highly motivated, self-starter capable of working towards the accomplishment of the Chamber EDC’s strategic goals.
  • Must maintain an appropriate professional appearance, attitude and behavior at all times.
  • Must maintain a positive working relationship with all members of the Chamber EDC, the Chamber EDC Staff, Chamber EDC Volunteers, City and County Commissions and the public. 
Position Responsibilities
  • In conjunction with the Vice President, develop marketing pieces such as online and print advertisements, trade show materials, brochures, direct messages and more as part of the Chamber EDC’s economic development efforts. These economic development efforts include, but are not limited to: entrepreneurial development, business retention & expansion and business attraction.
  • Attend and represent the Bismarck Mandan Chamber EDC at economic development-related events such as trade shows and conferences as well as regularly scheduled Chamber EDC events.
  • Research and analyze the impacts of economic development marketing efforts such as direct mailings (hard copy & electronic), social media posts and more in an effort to report and consequently, improve those efforts.
  • Develop and maintain economic development-related content on the Chamber EDC’s website at
  • Develop and distribute Chamber EDC publications including, but not limited to: the Chamber EDC Economy at a Glance and Community Partnership Economy at a Glance.
  • Lead the Chamber EDC’s efforts to collect and submit cost of living data to the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER), on a quarterly basis, which in turn is used to populate the cost of living calculator on the Chamber EDC’s website at
  • Conduct individual Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) visits with local businesses.
  • Work with new or expanding businesses to identify local, state, and federal business assistance programs and administer or facilitate applications pertaining to the programs.
Education and Experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with a focus in business, communications, public relations, marketing or a related field is preferred.
  • Work experience in a related field will also be considered.  
  •  A competitive salary will be set by the President with the approval of the Executive Committee in accordance with the policies and practices approved by the full Board of Directors.
