Funatix Events is a full-service event company based in Bismarck, North Dakota. Funatix Events oversees the event management, marketing, sponsorship, ticket sales operations, and media for numerous events locally and statewide. These events include: one of the oldest rodeos in the world, the Mandan Rodeo Days, Bismarck’s largest three-day running event, the Bismarck Marathon and the only Christmas road race in the state, the Santa Run.

About The Bismarck Larks

Funatix Events, is the affiliate event company of the Bismarck Larks baseball team in Bismarck, North Dakota. The Bismarck Larks joined the Northwoods League (NWL) in 2017. The NWL is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 22 teams, drawing more fans than any league of its kind. The NWL provides top college players from North America and beyond a summer collegiate baseball experience. More than 290 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball in the NWL’s 29-year history.

The Bismarck Larks became the first team in NWL history to win NWL Organization of the Year in back-to-back seasons (2017 & 2018). The Larks sold out 27 of 36 home games in 2017 (75%) and continued their success in 2018 selling out 30 of 36 home games with an average overall attendance of more than 68,000 fans.

In 2020, the Larks became the first sports team in the country to play safely with fans in the stands during the COVID-19 pandemic.  In 2021, the Larks sold out 92% of every ticket and were named one of the top 30 employers in sports by Front Office Sports in the company of the Denver Broncos and Savannah Bananas.


Who We’re Looking For

Funatix Events is looking for an Event Marketing Manager in Bismarck, North Dakota to lead, support, and grow local and statewide events through marketing initiatives. We’re looking for a passionate, talented and positive person who strives for excellence, happiness and inspires the same in others. The Event Marketing Manager will report directly to the Bismarck Larks and Funatix Events General Managers.


The Position

As the Event Marketing Manager, you will lead the content strategy and manage the content publishing platforms across the website, social media, and other marketing avenues. You’ll work closely with the Funatix General Manager to build marketing plans, create videos and graphics and develop storytelling content to help extend the company’s brand, sell tickets and increase attendance. The Event Marketing Manager will be responsible for assisting with Bismarck Larks marketing strategies, events and other duties assigned by the Bismarck Larks and Funatix Events General Managers.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and organize marketing and advertising campaigns from strategy to execution by working closely with the Funatix General Manager and other local committees and boards

  • Provide updates, create reports and maintain strong relationships with committee and board members

  • Measure and review analytics for content and marketing campaigns through Google Analytics, URL trackers, other analytics tools

  • Oversee and manage all media and marketing inventory

  • Oversee, manage, and update event websites, newsletter databases, social media platforms and other mediums

  • Publish daily across event platforms including but not limited to Facebook. Twitter, TikTok etc.

  • Create, develop and deliver engaging content that inspires current, potential and future event attendees to purchase or engage in the event.

  • Shoot, edit and produce video content

  • Design marketing materials including but not limited to: social graphics, mailers, flyers, tickets, billboards, website graphics, etc.

  • Serve as the point of contact with fans, registrants, and others via email, website forms, inbound calls, and messenger

  • Understand competitive trends in the entertainment and event industry

  • Assist and analyze post-event surveys

  • Continually build and maximize brand awareness through current and new media elements and strategies  

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local media outlets

  • Write press releases, media advisories and pitch potential story ideas to local media outlets

  • Represent Funatix Events at various networking events and participate in other outside, community events, as defined

  • Assist with Bismarck Larks game day responsibilities and day-to-day social media

  • Provide best in-class customer service

  • Work all Funatix Events, Bismarck Larks home games and ballpark events including but not limited to event operations, event set up and tear down, event activation, event content, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Do you want to be a superstar in the sports business? That’s the first qualification. If you answered yes, then answer two more questions: 1) do you have a strong work ethic, and 2) do you have a desire to learn and excel?

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop)

  • Experience with Google Analytics preferred, but not required

  • Experience with WordPress or other web-based applications preferred, but not required

  • Experience with project management and social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other emerging platforms

  • Strong marketing and content strategy development

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong storytelling and copywriting skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and think strategically 

  • Ability to conceptualize and execute unique marketing campaigns that drive KPIs

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to make an impact, is inspired to perform well to help contribute to the success of a project or the team

  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills

*Vacation days are awarded at the discretion of the General Manager with no maximum number of days allowed per calendar year. All vacation requests are to be received at least two weeks prior to needed time off. Vacation time is discouraged from April 1- September 1 due to in-season responsibilities. In the case of illness please provide notice to the General Manager as early as able.
