About Us

Bismarck Parks and Recreation District serves residents and visitors in the City of Bismarck and Burleigh County. We own and manage thousands of acres of park land and miles of recreational trails, along with providing recreational facilities and offering programs and special events.

BPRD's mission is to collaborate with the community to provide residents and visitors the highest quality park, program, facility, and event experiences. We have been providing accessible, affordable, and sustainable public parks and recreation services in our community for almost 100 years

BPRD is an independent political subdivision governed by five publicly elected park commissioners. Hundreds of partnerships are a cornerstone of our park and recreation services. These relationships have leveraged public and private resources, both funding and volunteer time, making possible significantly more offerings to support healthy, active lifestyles for the community than would be possible alone.

Public parks and recreation is essential infrastructure that helps make Bismarck a healthy, active, and sustainable community. Among the many benefits provided by BPRD are positive economic, health, environmental, and community impacts. BPRD attracts businesses and workforce to our city, improves the physical and mental well-being of our residents, preserves water and air quality, and offers spaces that enhance social connections and build a strong sense of place.
