The 7th annual Bucks for Bras charity event will be held on October 18 at Borrowed Bucks Roadhouse. Last year’s fundraiser earned over $50,000 for the American Cancer Society and the Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation to benefit cancer patients in our community. This year the groups are combining efforts and setting their fundraising goal at an ambitious $55,000, to continue in the fight against cancer. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women, with 1 in 8 being diagnosed with the disease. It is estimated that in North Dakota, over 500 women will develop breast cancer this year alone. In cutting edge treatment and prevention, the American Cancer Society is currently funding hundreds of research grants, and the Bismarck Cancer Center is rigorously treating dozens of patients with the disease. Everyone knows someone who has survived or succumbed to cancer, and this exciting and entertaining event is a wonderful way to celebrate the lives of women who have bravely battled this diagnosis while continuing to fight for a cure and fund a great cause. Founded by Borrowed Bucks manager Brad Erickson, in honor of his wife, Cammy, a breast cancer survivor, Bucks for Bras is a festive and fabulous event. The excitement includes silent auction, games and give aways, an opportunity to purchase exclusive signature merchandise including bracelets and t-shirts, complimentary appetizers, desserts and drinks provided by Borrowed Bucks and other distributers, and will culminate in an amazing live bra auction where local models display one of a kind creative and glamorized bras custom designed by area artists, groups and individuals in the community. All cancer survivors will receive a special free gift. Bucks for Bras will begin at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, October 18. A ticket to the event will be required for admission. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $20 at Borrowed Bucks Roadhouse, the American Cancer Society, the Bismarck Cancer Center or online at www.bucksforbras.com. Tickets may also be purchased at the door on the day of the event for $25 each, but Bucks for Bras will likely sell out so patrons are encouraged to buy early. As part of breast cancer awareness month in October, Borrowed Bucks will also be hanging a bra garland from the building. To donate to the bra garland, drop new or used (clean) bras off in the boxes located at Borrowed Bucks, the American Cancer Society, or the Bismarck Cancer Center. For reservations and more information visit www.bucksforbras.com.
