'Day of da Vinci' offered at North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum
The public is invited to “Day of da Vinci” at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck on Saturday, Nov. 9, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. This free event celebrates the legacy of Leonardo da Vinci in anticipation of the upcoming premiere of Ken Burns’ film “Leonardo da Vinci,” which will air on PBS Nov. 18 and 19, 7-9 p.m. both evenings. This event offers a unique opportunity for people of all ages to engage with the works and ideas of one of history’s most influential figures. The morning begins at 10 a.m. with “Little Kids, Big World: Mona Lisa Art.” The interactive program for preschool-aged children will introduce young learners to one of Leonardo's most famous masterpieces. At 10:30 a.m., a screening of a 12-minute kid-friendly portion of “Leonardo Da Vinci” will provide a brief but engaging glimpse into the life of the Renaissance genius. At 11 a.m., children in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to “Junior Historians” where they will participate in a special program focused on Leonardo's innovative bridge design, giving young attendees the opportunity to explore the engineering mind of the artist. The afternoon programming, particularly suited for adult audiences, starts at 2 p.m. with a 30-minute screening of “Natural World is the Greatest Teacher,” a preview of the upcoming premiere of “Leonardo da Vinci,” followed by a panel discussion at 2:30 p.m. moderated by Prairie Public News Director Dave Thompson. The panel will delve into Leonardo's profound connection with nature and how it influenced his work in both art and science.
