Free Family Movie Showing at the ND Heritage Center & State Museum
The public is invited to a free family film “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” June 15 at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum. Show times are 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Russell Reid Auditorium. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This movie is rated G. The world is astounded when Willy Wonka, for years a recluse in his factory, announces that five lucky people will be given a tour of the factory, shown all the secrets of his amazing candy, and one will win a lifetime supply of Wonka chocolate. Charlie, along with four somewhat odious other children, get the chance of a lifetime and a tour of the factory. Along the way, mild disasters befall each of the odious children, but can Charlie beat the odds and grab the brass ring? This movie showing is an activity related to the temporary exhibit, Chocolate: The Exhibition, a national traveling exhibit exploring the history behind the tasty treat we crave. Explore the plant, products, and culture of chocolate through the lenses of science, history, and popular culture through objects and interactive displays at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum from May 27 to Sept. 6. Chocolate and its national tour were developed by the Field Museum, Chicago, and supported, in part, by the National Science Foundation.
