Free Sensational Sunday program: The Prairie Post Office: Enlarging the Common Life in Rural North Dakota
Join us for a talk and book signing by Amy Phillips, Steve Bolduc, Wayne Gudmundson, and Kevin Carvell on "The Rural Post Office: Enlarging the Common Life in Rural North Dakota." Some rural communities in North Dakota have lost, or are on the verge of losing their post offices. Why is this happening, and why have rural North Dakotans been fighting to save their post offices? This Sensational Sunday presentation will respond to these questions while providing photos of rural post offices and the local residents who speak eloquently to the varied roles that post offices play in their communities. About the Book "The Prairie Post Office" uses the insights and experiences of rural North Dakotans to highlight the critical roles of rural post offices and postal employees. The book features photos of North Dakota post offices, postal employees, and postal customers and offers a history of mail delivery in North Dakota and northern Dakota Territory.
