Halloween Open House Planned at Camp Hancock State Historic Site
Camp Hancock is hosting a Halloween Open House on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome and children under age 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The site will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. for trick-or-treating. Candy will be handed out and hot cider will be available. Visitors will be able to explore inside two of Bismarck's oldest buildings--the 1881 Bread of Life Church, and the 1872 officers’ quarters, the oldest standing building in Bismarck. The officers’ quarters were also the home of the Camp Hancock post surgeon, Dr. Benjamin Slaughter. Camp Hancock, located at the corner of First Street and Main Avenue in Bismarck, is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. The site is open by appointment and admission is free. For more information about Camp Hancock State Historic Site, call 701.328.9528.
