Historian Discusses Little Bighorn Surgeon at North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum
The public is invited to a history presentation, “A Surgeon with Custer,” by Todd E. Harburn at 2 p.m. on June 20, at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck. Harburn’s lecture will look at details of James DeWolf and the Battle of the Little Bighorn. DeWolf was one of three surgeons who accompanied Custer to the Battle of the Little Bighorn. De Wolf perished during the battle but left behind an eyewitness account in his diary and correspondence to his wife. Harburn’s lecture is based on DeWolf’s diary and letters. Harburn is the author of “A Surgeon with Custer at the Little Big Horn,” which will be available for sale, and the author will be available for book signing following the presentation.
