“Little Kids, Big World” January Programs at ND Heritage Center & State Museum
Toddlers and preschoolers are invited to "Make and Take Pottery" at 10:30 a.m., Jan. 23, at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum. The program will teach toddlers about pottery while they create and decorate their own pot to take it home. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The program is part of “Little Kids, Big World,” a free interactive learning series sponsored by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. These fun, hands-on 30-minute programs introduce children to North Dakota’s fascinating history—from dinosaurs through today’s ongoing story. Additional upcoming programs in the series include “Mighty Mastodon” on Jan. 30, where participants will pretend to be mastodons and make a mastodon craft, and “Let's Play Pioneer Games” on Feb. 6 where the participants will play classic games from North Dakota's pioneer days. The programs are led by Stephanie Schick, a gallery guide at the ND Heritage Center & State Museum. She is a graduate of Northern Arizona University who previously worked as an educator at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque, Iowa. Schick, who has a passion for history, science, and education, loves to travel and has taught in schools in Kenya and Egypt. Participants are asked to meet at the east entrance information desk at the ND Heritage Center & State Museum. For more information, contact Erik Holland, 701.328.2792.
