Sensational Sundays: The Fargo Fire of 1893
Author and journalist Danielle Teigen will share how one Wednesday afternoon in June 1893, a ferocious fire irrevocably changed the landscape of Fargo in a matter of hours. Stunned residents surveyed the more than 30 city blocks devoured by the fire, but they refused to be defeated. An intense rebuilding effort followed, allowing the city of Fargo to emerge once again from the prairie through sheer perseverance and grit, characteristics that continue to be a hallmark of the Gateway to the West. Teigen is a professional communicator with more than a decade of experience in journalism, public relations, digital content creation, and marketing. "The Fargo Fire of 1893" is her second nonfiction history book; her first, "Hidden History of Fargo" was published in 2017. After living in Fargo for nearly 16 years, she recently moved back to her small hometown in South Dakota with her husband and three children, where she continues to work remotely for Forum Communications as managing editor of a bi-monthly parenting magazine.
