State Historic Preservation Board to Meet January 26
The North Dakota State Historic Preservation Review Board will meet Friday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m. in the Project Room at the North Dakota Heritage Center in Bismarck. The meeting is open to the public. The board reviews nominations to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) prior to their submission to the Keeper of the NRHP for official consideration. The board will discuss two North Dakota properties at this meeting. The construction of the stone and concrete Robinson Hall in Robinson began in 1936 as a Works Progress Administration project designed by Herman M. Leonard to build a city hall and community auditorium. When the project was finished in late 1937, a small fire hall and jail had been added to the rear. By 1942, another addition had been built to house a stage and add facilities in the basement. The third and final addition was added in 1983 as the building served as the local senior center. This hall is being nominated for its architecture and for its major role in the social history of Robinson. The Minot Industrial Historic District was originally listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. As a result of recovery operations from the 2011 flood, the district has been re-evaluated and an amendment will be reviewed to slightly reduce the boundaries of the district. The boundary change occurs primarily at the northeast corner of the district.
