The Scarecrow
This Halloween Shade Tree Players are proud to present The Scarecrow, a world premiere musical, based on the stories of Washington Irving. This festive, fun, family show, directed by Dakota Stage Artistic Director, Christopher Zinovitch, promises to be a daring delight for all ages. The Scarecrow is based on an obscure short story by the American author, Washington Irving. It is the tall tale of a widow who is exiled from her village by the local mayor. To get her revenge, she crafts a scarecrow and dresses him like a dandy. She uses a magic pipe that gives the scarecrow the breath of life and allows him to walk. The scarecrow enters the village and quickly becomes the romantic interest of the mayor's daughter. Just as the mayor is announcing the wedding of his daughter to this interesting young man, the daughter removes the pipe to kiss him and he becomes a mere scarecrow again. The mortified mayor and his daughter leave town allowing the widow to return home. The Scarecrow will be performed at Dakota Stage, located at 412 E Main Ave. in Bismarck, on Saturday, October 25th at 2pm. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for children, and will be available at the door on the day of the event.
