Join us for a presentation and book signing by K. Amy Phillips and Steven R. Bolduc. The presentation will include a brief history of mail delivery in Dakota Territory and highlight the critical roles of post offices in contemporary rural North Dakota communities. “The Prairie Post Office: Enlarging the Common Life in Rural North Dakota," a book by co-authors Phillips and Bolduc, is the inspiration for this program. The book also inspired the exhibit “The Prairie Post Office” that opened recently at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum, featuring contemporary photography by Wayne Gudmundson. The exhibit is on view in the James E. Sperry Gallery through 2021. The book will be available for purchase in the Museum Store, and the authors will be available to sign following the presentation. This program is part of the State Historical Society of North Dakota's Sensational Sundays series. Sensational Sundays are free cultural programs that include a variety of lectures, concerts, movies, and tours.
