DAKOTA THE DINOMUMMY OPENING CELEBRATION
Join us at the public opening celebration of the newly updated Dakota exhibit, featuring talks on new discoveries about this rare dinosaur from the paleontologists, family activities, tours, and a film showing. Events are in the Russell Reid Auditorium unless otherwise noted. 11 a.m.: Building Opens to the Public. 11:15 a.m.: Opening Remarks and Ribbon Cutting in the Northern Lights Atrium. 12 p.m.: Book Reading by Becky Barnes -Prehistories: Dakota the Dinomummy. 12:30 p.m.: “The World of Dakota” by Jeff Person. 1 p.m.: “Preparing Dakota” by Becky Barnes. 1:30 p.m.: “Dakota’s Death and Preservation” by Dr. Stephanie Drumheller-Horton. 2 p.m.: Free Viewing of “The Land Before Time” (Rated G: 1988) -Introduction by NDGS Paleontologists. Visit the Preparators Table Next to Dakota to Talk to Some of the People that freed Dakota from its Rocky Grave. 11:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m.: Kids Activities (Crafts/Coloring Pages) in the Classroom Area. Free admission to all events and activities. Special Activity requiring registration: 12-3:30 p.m.: Behind the Scenes Paleontology Lab Tours every 30 minutes. $5/person.
