Course Description
Every year it seems as though therapy services are increasingly scrutinized by Medicare, Program Safeguard Contractors and even private payers. The regulations and guidelines for therapy services change frequently and interpretations of how to apply the regulations may vary. This course will assist the participant in navigating the rules and regulations. The key components of documentation will be presented along with examples of how to incorporate them into daily documentation. The participant will also learn about recent and proposed changes to how therapy will be paid for. The course will cover the most common audit flags that plague our profession, and how to implement changes to your documentation to prevent therapy denials.
Course Objectives
- Effectively document the delivery of medically necessary, skilled rehab services in all therapy settings: hospital, home health, skilled nursing facility and outpatient clinics.
- Understand the most current documentation regulations and how to implement them in daily practice.
- Discuss the most recent changes to the Medicare physician fee schedule and how business practices might be impacted
- Discuss the most recent policy & payment landscape including RAC audits, health care reform, and alternative payment system for outpatient therapy services.
