Position Purpose:
This position is responsible for establishing the proper accounting for capital and non-capital work orders, fixed asset, and lease transactions in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Cooperative policies and procedures. This position is also responsible for analyzing and maintaining capital and non-capital work orders, fixed asset, and lease data and financial transactions in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, and organizing and analyzing data and developing reports for review by Cooperative management and external entities.

Essential Functions:

  • Apply GAAP principles to accounting transactions. Analyze documentation to determine the proper accounting classification; and establish and maintain all records and financial transactions for the Cooperative. Troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Maintain records and financial transactions on the ERP system, including for multiple companies and joint projects.
  • Organize data and develop reports using third-party software tools and communicate with Financial Services department management and other Cooperative personnel on the status of capital and non-capital work orders, fixed and leased assets, and related expenses.
  • Analyze and evaluate the disposition of fixed and leased assets and classify and record the effects of retirement transactions.
  • Analyze transactions and generate schedules and journal entries. Review and analyze transactions, communicate with field personnel concerning transactions, and properly account for transactions.
  • Identify and correct subsidiary balances in accordance with GAAP and Cooperative accounting requirements and provide recommendations for changes.
  • Ensure the accuracy of data in the ERP system.

Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related financial discipline.
  • Basic understanding of transactions and GAAP and ERP systems.
  • Basic accounting, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with personal computers, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Resume required.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building, occasional reaching below and above should level, constant use of a keyboard/computer and other office machinery, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires the ability to communicate and must be able to clearly exchange accurate information. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and to work under stress to complete projects within deadlines.
