Position Overview
The Bismarck Mandan Chamber EDC is seeking a dynamic and visionary Vice President of Economic Development to lead initiatives that drive business growth, workforce development, and community advancement. This role is pivotal in implementing our new comprehensive strategic plan and fostering an environment where businesses thrive and talent flourishes.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with a passion for economic development, strong relationship-building skills, strong communication skills, and a proven ability to execute strategies that create measurable impact.


Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Drive implementation of the Chamber EDC’s strategic plan for economic and workforce development.
    • Identify emerging trends and opportunities to position Bismarck-Mandan as a competitive and attractive region for business investment.
    • Provide leadership to Economic Development Team, guiding and developing them for success in their roles.
  • Business Attraction & Retention:
    • Develop and execute programs to attract new businesses and support existing employers from small business to large business.
    • Build strong partnerships with local, regional, and state stakeholders to advance economic growth initiatives.
  • Workforce Development:
    • Collaborate with educational institutions, employers, and community organizations to address workforce challenges and create talent pipelines.
    • Lead initiatives that enhance workforce readiness and retention.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Serve as an ambassador for the Chamber EDC, representing the organization at public events, meetings, and with media.
    • Foster relationships with government officials, business leaders, and community partners to align efforts and resources.
  • Data & Reporting:
    • Monitor economic indicators and provide regular reports on progress toward strategic goals.
    • Utilize data-driven insights to inform decision-making and program development.

 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Public Administration, or related field. A Master’s Degree and/or certification as a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) from the International Economic Development Council is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in economic development, business development, or related leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of workforce development strategies and regional economic trends.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Mail, PowerPoint,etc) and technology to advance our efforts.
