Position / Parameters

The Workforce Development Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing the Chamber EDC’s mission by leading high-impact workforce development and community leadership programs. This role manages several key initiatives that connect students, educators, employers, and community members, while helping grow the region’s talent pipeline and leadership capacity. This person will serve as the face of the Chamber EDC throughout these programs.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, relationship-driven, and passionate about creating opportunities for people to succeed in Bismarck-Mandan. The Workforce Development Coordinator serves as part of the Economic Development team within the BMCEDC. The Economic Development team is led by the Vice President.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead community-wide workforce development efforts focused on the retention of Bismarck-Mandan residents as potential employees for area employers.
  • Work with BMCEDC Workforce Development Committee as staff liaison to develop new & innovative workforce development and talent attraction solutions to augment and/or replace the organization’s existing workforce development and talent attraction efforts.
  • Coordinate and oversee event registration and partner communication for programs hosted in collaboration with Job Service ND and other employment agencies.
  • Direct the Student Leadership Network, engaging high school in career readiness programming and leadership development while helping connect them with local employers.
  • Organize and execute the annual Educator Experience, connecting local educators with area businesses to better align classroom learning with workforce needs.
  • Manage the Internship Network, helping connect student interns with our region while promoting experiential learning opportunities across the community.
  • Facilitate the New American Leadership Network, supporting emerging leaders from other countries through networking and leadership development opportunities.
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of Leadership Bismarck-Mandan, a flagship program that builds civic-minded leaders through class sessions, community projects, and networking.
  • Coordinate Job Shadow Week, matching students with local businesses to provide hands-on career exploration experiences.
  • Update area employers on local, state & federal workforce development programs & opportunities.
  • Assist in providing necessary information in response to the requests from outside business and industry interested in Bismarck-Mandan.
  • Assist the Vice President and Director of Public Relations in the development and implementation of business and talent attraction marketing efforts, where appropriate.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, employers, nonprofit organizations, and public agencies to ensure collaborative program success.
  • Track program outcomes, collect participant feedback, and report on impact to Chamber EDC leadership and partners.
  • Provide event-day support to the Chamber EDC team and carry out other responsibilities as assigned.


Education and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration, Human Resources, Business, Communications, or related field

- Work experience in a related field will also be considered.

- Willingness to attend professional development opportunities related to position responsibilities.


Salary

- $48,000-53,000
